About being
A calm place in the middle of St Albans
Our story
Where do busy people go when they need some physical maintenance and mental recharging? Country clubs and Spas are lovely, but tension, stiffness and muscle pain don’t necessarily present themselves on the exact day you’ve booked your treatment(s). A trip to the high-street may offer some independent massage therapy but what if you want nationwide consistency, on-demand, cost effective subscription packages and a wide range of personalised massage, float and sauna treatments…welcome to being!
We built being for people who want to feel better as a matter of routine, not as a once-a-year treat. Three things, done properly: floating in open pools, private infrared sauna, and massage. A space that’s easy to come back to, week after week, on your own or together.
Our philosophy
Restore · Recover · Revitalise
Restore
Time out from noise, screens and demands. Space to let your mind settle.
Recover
Warmth, weightlessness and skilled hands to help your body unwind after a busy week or a hard session.
Revitalise
Leave feeling lighter, and come back regularly so the good feeling lasts.

What our guests say
“Fantastic infrared sauna and floating experience. Lovely receptionist explained everything clearly. Everything you need to relax is provided. Very clean. I will definitely be back.”
Anna Milad · Sauna and float
“The team at Being were delightfully welcoming and carefully explained how everything worked. They’d really thought of everything from clean water spray & towel in case you got salt in your eyes to ear plugs and a neck float. I really enjoyed the float – feels a little weird as you get in for the first time but soon you’re drifting like a starfish and unwinding until you can’t tell where your body ends and the water starts.
When the music came back on to signal the end of your float I felt like the time had flown by. The shower was a decent pressure and option of rain shower or handheld.
Then it was time to relax in the lounge area with complimentary flavoured water before heading round to the Infrared sauna.
Once again you’re in your own little room. The sauna is set to 60 degrees but don’t let that fool you – you’ll sweat rivers! The fancy coloured light was a fun touch. Again, good shower afterwards. My only gripe was that it was so hot in the room after the sauna that I couldn’t get dressed again – a cooler place to change for those that want it wouldn’t go a miss.
Overall a lovely calm and immaculately clean place with great customer service. I’ll be coming again to try a couples float and massage!”
Hemi Trenholm · Float and sauna
“Wonderful place just off St. Albans High Street by the Maltings. I had the infrared sauna and flotation package. I felt very welcome and looked after, the staff were friendly and explained everything really clearly.
The facilities are absolutely stunning, you get a private room with shower, water, places for your clothes and belongings, a bag for your wet swimming costume, and in the floatation room there’s also a freshwater spray (just in case you get salt water in your eyes) and ear plugs to protect your inner ears when you lay in the water: they really have thought of everything! Towels and flip flops are provided, and if you book more than one treatment, they provide a lovely soft dressing gown to wear between sessions too. All the lighting is adjustable in the rooms, so in the floatation room you are in a large open bath and you can keep the bath and/or room lights on if you don’t want to be in total darkness. If you do want total darkness I can assure you all the lights off really gives you that ‘floating in space’ feeling to completely disconnect and relax in. The salts and magnesium in the water also makes your skin feel really soft. If you love the spa but also love your own space, this place is absolutely perfect. I will definitely be back!”
