Sauna in St Albans

Benefits of infrared sauna

Sweating is one of the body’s natural ways to eliminate waste products. Because infrared heat penetrates deeper into tissues, it can produce a more intense sweat at lower temperatures, helping the body flush out impurities through the skin. Regular infrared sauna sessions can support the body’s natural detox pathways and leave you feeling lighter, refreshed, and energised.

Deep Detoxification

Infrared heat encourages a deep sweat that helps the body release toxins through the skin, supporting your natural detox pathways and leaving you feeling refreshed and revitalised.

Improved Circulation

Infrared heat gently increases heart rate and circulation, helping oxygen and nutrients move more efficiently around the body.

Muscle & Joint Relief

The penetrating warmth can help relax tight muscles, ease joint stiffness, and support recovery after exercise or physical strain.

Why choose being for sauna in St Albans?

Most saunas in St Albans are shared spaces inside gyms or hotel spas. At being, your infrared sauna session is in a private room. No queuing, no sharing, no watching the clock because someone is waiting outside. Our sauna uses full-spectrum infrared covering near, mid, and far wavelengths, targeting everything from surface skin benefits to deep muscle and joint recovery in a single session. What makes being different is that sauna is one part of a purpose-built wellness space. Add open-pool float therapy before your sauna to fully release your muscles, or book an expert massage afterwards to work on specific tension. That combination of float, sauna, and massage under one roof is something you will not find anywhere else in Hertfordshire. Francis Bacon House, Bricket Rd, St Albans, AL1 3TN.

Your infrared sauna session, start to finish

Your infrared sauna session at being is private, comfortable, and designed around you. Your session is 30 minutes: 25 minutes in the sauna, plus time to change and shower. Arrive hydrated, settle into the gentle deep warmth, and enjoy the clear-headed calm afterwards. Pair with a float session beforehand or a massage afterwards for the full recovery experience.

Before Your Session

Arrive hydrated and wear whatever is comfortable. Your sauna room is private, so you can wear as much or as little as you like. We provide towels. Avoid heavy meals beforehand, but a light snack is fine.

During Your Session

Your session is 30 minutes, with 25 minutes in the sauna and time either side to change and shower. The infrared heat builds gradually and feels gentler than a traditional steam sauna. Temperatures reach 50-60°C, but because the heat warms your body directly, it feels comfortable rather than overwhelming. You will sweat more than you expect.

After Your Session

Cool down, drink water, and enjoy the clear-headed calm that lasts the rest of the day. Pair your sauna with a float session beforehand or a massage afterwards for the complete recovery visit.

I visited for the first time yesterday and experienced both the float therapy and the infrared sauna. I regularly use sauna, but it's nice to have your own private one to relax in. It was my first time trying the float therapy and I will definitely do it again, the sense of weightlessness is a little surreal and has to be experienced. It was great to be able to switch off, turn out the lights and float and sleep. Overall, it's a great way to spend an hour or two to relieve some of that midweek stress. The venue is immaculate, it smells great and the staff are super friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend and will be bringing my other half next time.

I visited for the first time yesterday and in truth did not know what to expect. From the minute i walked in, i felt calmer, and the whole team were very welcoming. After an hour at Being, i came away feeling relaxed and recharged, and the floatation was unlike anything i have experienced before (in a good way). I plan to visit again soon

Having visited today not fully understanding what Float Therapy was, I was excited to find out more. I was not disappointed. It was my first visit to Being and from the moment I entered all the team were so welcoming. The checkin process was smooth and before I knew it, I was being shown to my Float private room. The experience was so relaxing and a fantastic experience and I look forward to going again. I finished the experience with a 30min stint in their Infrared sauna. I would highly recommend Being and I had a wonderful couple of very relaxing hours!

Visited for a 30 minute Sauna and 60 minute float. The team are all attentive, happy to help, warm & welcoming. The lounge area is cosy to relax before and between treatments. Sauna is large, clean, comfortable with a shower in the private room. The float experience was so relaxing. Large open pool, clean and different lighting options. Flip flops, towels, robe etc are all provided - as well as ear plugs and neck float for the pool. Could not fault anything and look forward to returning.

I had a float. I was a bit nervous having had a not great experience in a floatation tank in the past. The staff were amazing which helped my nerves immensely. I really enjoyed the experience even if I did sleep through most of it! I'll certainly be going back again soon.
